More than 1.5 crore families receive govt relief

The government has continued to distribute relief as humanitarian aid to alleviate the suffering of the common people of the country due to the crisis caused by the coronavirus. So far, relief assistance has been provided to more than one and a half crore families across the country.
This has been informed in a statement on Thursday.
According to information received from 64 district administrations, 2,11,017 metric tons of rice have been distributed across the country till Wednesday and 1,95,000 metric tons have been distributed. The number of beneficiary families is 1 crore 67 lakhs 29 thousand and the beneficiary population is 7 crores 33 lakhs 43 thousand.
According to the statement, about Tk 123 crores has been allocated in cash. Cash allocation of Tk 95.83 crores has been allocated as general relief and Tk 92.57 crores have been distributed. Here the number of beneficiary families is 99 lakhs 29 thousand and the number of beneficiary people is 4 crores 38 lakhs 23 thousand.
On the other hand, Tk 27.14 crores have been allocated as baby food aid, and Tk 26.25 crores have been distributed so far. The number of beneficiary families is eight lakh 40 thousand and the beneficiary population is 17 lakh 34 thousand.
