Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Friday in Bangladesh as the Shawwal crescent moon not sighted in the sky of the country.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the National Moon Sighting Committee in the eastern courtyard of the Islamic Foundation Baitul Mukarram National Mosque on Wednesday evening.
The meeting was presided over by Faridul Haque Khan, chairman of the National Moon Sighting Committee and state minister for religion.
The meeting was informed that the moon of the holy month of Shawwal was not seen in the sky of the country on Wednesday (May 12). Therefore, Thursday will be the last day of Ramadan, and Eid ul Fitr would be observed across the country on Friday.
