Monsoon fairly active, rain likely

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Thursday predicted rain or thunder showers with temporary gusty wind at many places over the country in 24 hours ending at 9:00 am tomorrow.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places
over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Chattogram, Khulna and Barishal
divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country," said a met office release issued this morning.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, the release added.
Meanwhile, The well-marked low over North Madhya Pradesh and adjoining area persists. It is likely to move west-northwestwards further and weaken gradually. The axis of monsoon trough runs through Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, the centre of well-marked low, Odisha, Gangetic West Bangal and thence north-eastwards to Assam across the southern part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends upto North Bay.
Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
The country's highest temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Tetulia in the Rangpur division and today's minimum temperature was recorded 24.6 degrees Celsius at Mymensingh and Bogura.
The highest rainfall in the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 91 mm at Cumilla in Chattogram.
The sunsets at 6:01 pm today and rises at 5:45 am tomorrow in the capital.
