Monsoon fairly active over Bangladesh

The low over Northwest Bay and adjoining coastal area persists, Bangladesh Meteorological Department said on Saturday, adding that monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and moderate to strong elsewhere over North Bay.
The Met Office also forecasted that many parts of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna, Barishal and Chattogram divisions and at a few places over Dhaka,
Mymensingh and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country," said a Met Office release issued this morning.
Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, it added.
As an outlook for the next 72 hours, the BMD predicted: "Rainfall activity may increase."
Country’s maximum temperature on Friday was recorded by 34.7 degrees Celsius at Nikli in Dhaka division and the lowest temperature today was recorded by 22.6 degrees Celsius at Jashore in Khulna division.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 74 millimeters (mm) at Kumarkhali.
The sun sets at 6:46 pm today and rises at 5:10 am tomorrow in the capital.
