Monsoon fairly active; low pressure likely to form

As an outlook for the next 72 hours, Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Wednesday predicted: "A low-pressure area is likely to form over north Bay."
The Met Office also forecasted that many places over the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Khulna and Barishal divisions and at a few places over Dhaka, Mymensingh, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at isolated places over the country," said a Met Office bulletin issued this morning.
Meanwhile, a mild heat wave is sweeping over the regions of Faridpur, Rajshahi, Pabna, Sirajgonj and Kushtia and it may abate during the period, the bulletin said.
Southwest monsoon has advanced up to Chattogram, Barishal, Dhaka, Sylhet and Mymensingh divisions, said the Meet office, adding that conditions are favourable for further advancement of Southwest monsoon over remaining parts of the country.
"Monsoon is fairly active over eastern part of the country and weak to moderate over North Bay," it added.
Country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 36.0 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and minimum temperature today was 23.0 degrees Celsius at Tetulia.
Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded 111 millimeters (mm).
