Monsoon active over Bangladesh, rain likely

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Sunday forecasted that light to moderate rain or thundershower is likely to occur at many places across the country in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office bulletin issued this morning.
Day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country, it said.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs extends up to North Bay. Monsoon is active over Bangladesh and moderate over North Bay.
Country’s maximum temperature on Saturday was recorded by 32.0 degrees Celsius at Sylhet and minimum temperature today was recorded by 23.3 degrees Celsius at Madaripur.
Maximum rainfall for the last twenty-four hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 111 millimetres (mm) at Gopalganj.
