Momen-Jaishankar meeting today

Indian Foreign Minister Dr S Jaishankar will hold a bilateral meeting with Foreign Minister Dr AK Abdul Momen on Tuesday. 

Earlier, Jayashankar arrived in Dhaka on Monday night on a three-day visit. His visit to strengthen trade and commerce, diplomatic relations between the two countries. Besides, multiple agreements can be signed between Bangladesh and India. 

He can also discuss the illegal migration and infiltration, connectivity, the Rohingya crisis, and the uniform river distribution including long-pending Teesta River. 

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s possible visit to New Delhi next October could also be discussed between the two foreign ministers of the two countries. 

According to sources, though this is the first visit to Bangladesh after taking over as the Foreign Minister of India, Jayashankar met with Bangladesh’s Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen in Tajikistan last June. The bilateral issues including unresolved Teesta were discussed between the Foreign Ministers of the two countries. 

The Indian Foreign Minister will return to New Delhi on August 27 after the visit.

This will be Jayashankar’s first visit to Bangladesh after taking over as Indian Foreign Minister.
