A court in Cox’s Bazar today has granted a two-day remand to three accused who took part in the murder of Rohingya’s top leader Mohib Ullah in the Ukhiya of the district.

Cox’s Bazar Senior Judicial Magistrate Helal Uddin passed the order at around 12 pm on Tuesday, confirmed Gazi Salauddin, officer-in-charge (OC) (Investigation) of Ukhiya police station.  

He said four people, including a member of the “Mohib Ullah Killing Squad”, were detained on Saturday morning. From there, Azizul Haque, one of the top 5 members of the killing squad, confessed to the murder.

The other three are Mohammad Rashid alias Murshid Amin, son of Abdul Mabud of D-8 block of Kutupalong Camp-1, Mohammad Anas, son of Fazal Haque of B-block of the same camp and Nur Mohammad, son of Nur Islam, OC Gazi Salauddin also said.

The investigating officer appealed to the court for five-days remand for the accused, later, the court granted two-day remand today after the hearing.    

Gunmen shot Rohingya’s top leader Mohib Ullah at his office in Ukhiya Kutupalong Camp-1 at around 8:30 pm on September 29. So far, nine people have been arrested in the murder case. One of them, Mohammad Ilias, has given a confessional statement under section 164.
