Mohammed Rezwan, an architect who made design and also an innovator of Solar-Powered Floating School Boat to ensure access to year-round and quality education in flood-prone regions, was recognized as one of the 20 earth heroes of the world by the British book. 

The book titled ‘Earth Heroes: Twenty Inspiring Stories of People Saving Our World’ written by Lily Dyu, published by award-winning publisher Nosy Crow in the United Kingdom — has been recognized as Architect Mohammed Rezwan as an ‘Earth Hero’. 

Rezwan’s floating school design was exhibited at the ‘Design with the other 90%’ exhibitions — organized by Smithsonian’s Cooper-Hewitt, National Design Museum and Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation in the US.

His design was also showcased at the ‘Bengal Stream’ architectural exhibition in Switzerland and France.

Educational activities in Solar-Powered Floating School Boat

Meanwhile, Mohammed Rezwan and his floating school have been included in the school textbooks of primary and secondary classrooms around the world Including US, UK and Japan. 

Regarding Mohammed Rezwan, Lily Dyu said, “Since flooding will be a problem affecting a billion people worldwide, perhaps soon it will be those other nations that look to this forward-thinking architect and his small but resilient country, Bangladesh for helping to adapt to climate change.” 

Rezwan developed, expanded, and sustained the floating schools over 10 years. He also served on international advisory committees dealing with education, technology, and environment.
