A court today has granted a three-day remand to model Maryam Akter Mou, who was arrested with drugs from her residence in the capital’s Mohammadpur.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Md. Ashek Imam’s court granted the remand on Monday.
On the day, Mou was produced before the court. After that, Mohammad Mazharul Islam, the investigating officer of the case, appealed for a 10-days remand for the proper investigation of the case under the Narcotics Control Act. Later, the court granted her a three-day remand.
The remand petition says accused Mou collected drugs from different areas including Dhaka city and organized “dance and song parties” at her house and sold liquor, yaba, Shisha, and other drugs to the people in exchange for money. Two to three more are involved with the accused. The accused Mau is a “drug dealer”. So, she should be remanded in police custody for 10 days for interrogation.
Earlier, DB arrested model Mou from her residence at 22/9 Babar Road near Mirpur Road on Sunday night. Five packets of yaba were seized at the time. At least a dozen foreign liquors were also seized from her flat.
Meanwhile, model Mou used to use her home as a ‘liquor bar’, police said. However, Mou denied the matter.
