Myanmar Computer Emergency Response Team (Mmcert) posted another warning on its Facebook page about possible cyberattacks on Myanmar websites on March 25 after the cyber attacks between Myanmar and Bangladesh cyber attackers increased.

“The attacks on web hosting servers in addition to DDoS and defacement have occurred. The attackers can control the server in the attack on web hosting server. They can obtain some data and we are worried that they can seize the data of users. If the websites don’t have sensitive data, the user credentials can be lost. That’s why we issued another warning,” said Myo Myint Htike from the Mmcert.

The announcement said the cyber attacks started on March 19 are not stopped and the cyber attacks made by Cyber-71 and Da4k Bomb3r are still present. Users need to back up their data in external storages instead of keeping them on the online server. The website owners need to investigate why their websites have been attacked. They need to change login credentials after the attack. They also need not to use passwords, which can easily guess, in websites and emails.

He said Cyber-71 attacked ten Myanmar websites on March 19, one Myanmar website on March 21, one Myanmar website on March 22 and 64 Myanmar websites on March 23.

“The cyber attacks may intense but we need to observe their response,” said Union of Underground Myanmar Hackers (UGMH).
