Mitu murder: Accused Shaku remanded for four days

A Chattogram court today remanded Saidul Islam Sikder alias Shaku, accused in the sensational Mahmuda Khanam Mitu murder case, for four days. Chattogram Metropolitan Magistrate Shafi Uddin passed the order on Thursday afternoon.

The matter has been confirmed by AC (Prosecution) Kazi Shahabuddin Ahmed of the city police.

He said the accused Saidul Islam Sikder alias Shaku was remanded in custody for seven days by the PBI. Following the hearing, the judge granted a four-day remand.

Earlier, RAB arrested him from Ranirhat Bazar area of ​​Rangunia upazila in Chattogram on Wednesday night.

On the same day at noon, Mitu's father Mosharraf Hossain filed a murder case against Babul Akhter at Panchlaish police station. Apart from Babul Akter and Saidul Islam Sikder alias Shaku, six others were also charged in the case.

After the case, the PBI produced Babul Akhter in court around 2.30 pm and asked for a seven-day remand. Following the hearing, the court of Metropolitan Magistrate Sarwar Jahan granted him a five-day remand.

The other accused in the case are Kamrul Islam Sikder alias Musa, Ehtesamul Haque Bhola, Motaleb Mia alias Wasim, Anwar Hossain, Khairul Islam, and Shahjahan Mia.

Among them Saidul Islam Sikder alias Shaku and Kamrul Islam Sikder alias Musa are brothers. Musa has been missing since the incident.

Mahmuda Khanam Mitu, wife of the then Superintendent of Police Babul Akter, was brutally shot and stabbed on the way to pick up her son from the school bus at OR Nizam Road near GEC junction in the city on June 5, 2016. That time, Babul Akhter filed a murder case with the Panchlaish police station.
