Awami League General-Secretary Obaidul Quader has said that there is no other option for BNP as they failed in the election. They also failed to do any movement.

Obaidul Quader said this on Saturday in a press conference at the party’s central office of Bangabandhu Avenue following the meet up of BNP Secretary-General with the US ambassador.

He said, “After losing the election, they went to foreigners to complain. What are they going to do by complaining? They couldn’t make any movement in 10 years”

“We thank them for taking part in the national elections. But in the elections, they are utterly defeated. After failing in movement, failing in elections, what is their support now?” Quader questioned.

Party General-Secretary alleged, “They made many complaints to the countrymen. Now, they are complaining to foreigners. That’s their old habit. We have nothing to say here.”

Now Awami League is more united than any time of the past, claiming this, Quader said, “Say an example, just look at Hatia, it’s organizationally too problematic, where we could not make the leaders united despite of frequent triumph. Now there was a solid unity, everybody on a stage. They are united even after the election. There were 17 rebel candidates from Awami League this year; but not at last. We could solve the rebellion with our leaders' efforts. No visible insurrection has been observed. This is the first step of the Awami League victory.”

Responding to the question, whether the body of Syed Ashraful Islam will be taken to the Central Shaheed Minar to pay mass homage, he replies, “leave the issue of Syed Ashraf on us. We were together; our leaders and workers also have feelings here. But we have to think about how long he has been suffering from physical illness. After such a serious disorder, he should not be dragged in this direction. Considering all this, the Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina arranged the program herself. There is no shortage of respect for Syed Ashraf.”

Earlier, a minute of silence was observed with deep respect for Awami League's former general secretary and liberation war organizer Syed Ashraful Islam.

Along with the party’s General-Secretary, Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif, Jahangir Kabir Nanak, Abdur Rahman, Khalid Mahmud Chowdhury, Organizing Secretary AFM Bahauddin Nasim, Joint General Secretary Dr. Dipu Moni, office secretary, Abdus Sobhan Golap and Deputy Publicity Secretary Aminul Islam Amin were also present the meeting.
