The fire – broke out at Mirpur Kalshi slum in the capital on Tuesday around 2:10 am – was brought under control around 3:15 am after an hour-long effort by 12 units of the fire service.
Confirming the matter, Md. Kamrul Hasan, duty officer of Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, said, “12 units were working in the fire that broke out in the slum of Bauniabad C block adjacent to Kalshi bus stand in Mirpur. Later, the fire came under control at around 3:15 am.”
However, the fire service official could not immediately say the cause of the fire and the extent of the damage.
It is to be mentioned that a terrible fire broke out in the same slum on 26 December 2019 at around 12:50 am. Hundreds of houses in the slum were gutted in that fire.
