Germany's all-time leading scorer Miroslav Klose has been appointed Bayern Munich assistant coach for next season. Earlier, Klose has coached Bayern's youth team for the last two seasons.

The star striker, who scored 24 goals in 98 matches for Bayern Munich between 2007-2011, winning league and cup honours. He also scored 71 goals in 137 games for Germany between 2001 and 2014, retired from professional football in 2016. He then put on a pair of boots but later started his career as a football coach. As a first step, he started working as the head coach of Bayern's youth team in 2018. After two successful seasons, Klose took on a new challenge as Lewandowski's assistant coach.

"This is the next step in my career as a coach," Klose said.

Bayern head coach Hansi Flick, who signed a contract extension last month, was Germany assistant coach when a side featuring Klose won the 2014 World Cup. In that case, the current head coach of the Bayern team has seen the footballer Klose very closely.

"We have known each other very well since our time in the national team and we trust each other both professionally and personally," Klose said.

All in all, football experts think that Flick's pairing with the highest goal scorer of all time in the senior team of Bayern will be great.
