Minni wasn`t upset even after hearing death sentence

Shahnawaz Sharif alias Rifat Sharif’s wife Aysha Siddika Minni and five others have been sentenced to death for killing him in Barguna in broad daylight last year. While four others were acquitted. Minni was not upset after hearing the announcement of her death sentence. No panic or regret was seen in her.

Barguna District and Sessions Judge Mohammad Ashaduzzaman passed the verdict on Wednesday. Rifat's wife Ayesha Siddika Minni was also present along with all the accused in the court during the 35-minute long verdict.

Prosecutor M. Mojibul Haque Kislu said the judge ordered the death sentence to Minni and five others. However, Minni was not upset by the verdict. I did not see tears in her eyes. I thought Minni would get sick or lose consciousness after hearing the death sentence. However, it did not happen. She looked healthy and normal.

The other convicts are- Rakibul Hasan alias Rifat Foraji, Al Kaium alias Rabbi Akon, Mohaimenul Islam Sifat, Rezwan Alai Khan Hridoy alias Tiktok Hridoy and Md Hasan. All accused were also fined Taka 50 thousand each.

The court also acquitted four other accused Rafiul Islam Rabbi, Md Sagar, Kamrul Islam Saimun and Md Musa alias Musa Bond.

On June 26, 2019, in front of Barguna Government College, Nayan Bond and his accomplices publicly hacked Rifat Sharif with a Ramadan knife and seriously injured him. After that, they left the area with arms raised in heroism. Seriously injured Rifat was taken to Barisal Sher-e-Bangla Medical College Hospital where he died on the same day.

Victim Rifat Sharif was hacked to death in broad daylight in Barguna on June 26. Police on July 16 showed his wife Minni, who was the main witness in the case earlier, arrested for her role in the gruesome murder.

On September 1 of that year, police filed a charge sheet in the Barguna Senior Judicial Magistrate's Court against 24 people, including Rifat's wife Minni. At the same time, the number one accused in the Rifat murder case, Nayan Bond was acquitted as he was killed in a gunfight.

On January 1 this year, Barguna District and Sessions Judge's Court filed charges against 10 adults accused in the Rifat murder case. On January 8, the Barguna Children's Court filed charges against 14 juvenile accused in the same case.
