Minni lands in jail ‘immediately’ after verdict

Police have taken Ayesha Siddika Minni into custody following the hearing of death sentence to six people, including Rifat’s wife Minni, in the much-discussed Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna.
Police have shown arrested to Minni in connection with the murder of Rifat Sharif in front of Barguna Government College.
Confirming the matter, Prosecutor Mostafizur Rahman Babu of the Barguna Women and Child Abuse Suppression Tribunal, said: “The court had ordered the death sentence to six people, including Rifat’s wife Ayesha Siddika Minni, in the Rifat Sharif murder case.”
“Minni was taken into police custody soon after the verdict was announced, he also said adding all those sentenced to death will be sent to jail.
District and Sessions Judge of Barguna Md Asaduzzaman passed the order at around 1:45 pm on Wednesday.
The death convicts are — the victim's wife Ayesha Siddika Minni, Rakibul Hasan Rifat Faraji, Al Qayyum alias Rabbi Akon, Mohaiminul Islam Sifat, Rezwan Ali Khan Hridoy alias Tiktak Hridoy and Md Hasan. The judge also fined each of them Tk 50,000.
Those who have been acquitted are — Rafiul Islam Rabbi, Md Sagar, Kamrul Islam Saimun, Md Musa.
On June 26, 2019, internet service provider Rifat Sharif was attacked by Noyon Bond and his associates in front of Barguna Government College in broad daylight. Later, he died in Barishal Medical College Hospital.
