Minni has been kept in custody to a lawyer after her bail expired in the Rifat murder case. She was handed over to her nominated lawyer Advocate Mahbubul Bari Aslam by Barguna District and Sessions Judge Md. Ashaduzzaman on Wednesday.

Earlier, Ayesha Siddika Minni entered the court with her father Mozammel Hossain Kishore at around 9:00 am as the date for refuting the arguments presented to prove Minni’s innocence has been fixed as per the pre-scheduled date.

The state lawyers began refuting arguments for Minni at around 11:00 am in the Barguna District and Sessions Judge’s Court. After the argument, Minni’s lawyer Mahbubul Bari Aslam appealed to the court to keep Minni in his custody as her bail had expired.

After granting the petition, the court handed Minni in the custody of lawyer Mahbubul Bari Aslam till the verdict. At the same time, the court fixed September 30 for the verdict in the case as the arguments for and against the 10 accused were completed.

“Minni’s bail granted by the High Court expired as soon as the arguments in the case were over. I then appealed for Minnie’s custody. Later, the court granted the petition till the verdict,” said Advocate Mahbubul Bari Aslam.

Minni’s family claims she is innocent. “She tried her best to save her husband,” her father Mozammel Hossain Kishore said.
