Militant arrested from capital

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested Mizanur Rahman Mizan, 30, an active member of the banned militant group Ansar Al Islam from Maghbazar area of the capital.
On Monday, RAB-4 Assistant Superintendent of Police Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury confirmed the information and said that RAB-4 arrested him after conducting a raid in Madhubag area of Maghbazar of Hatirjheel police station yesterday (Sunday).
Ansar al-Islam's extremist books, laptops, CPUs, pen drives and mobile phones were recovered from him.
Mizanur Rahman has admitted to being an active member of the banned organization 'Ansar Al Islam' in the primary interrogation.
Referring to the interrogation of the accused, Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury said that the accused has been involved with Ansar Al Islam for the last 3 years. In addition to regular secret meetings with colleagues, Mizan was collecting donations and new members.
He said the arrestee had previously been arrested by law enforcement for his alleged involvement with Ansar al-Islam. Many confidential and important information about the current activities of Ansar Al Islam has been obtained from him.
He added that legal action was being taken against the arrested person and surveillance was on to arrest his other accomplices.
