Nahidul Islam Mihad is mentally disordered by birth. But he does not want to be a burden to the family and society. He wants to study and wanted to be self-dependent.

Nahidul Islam Mihad is the son of a couple Mainul Islam Milon-Shefali Begum of Araihazar municipality in Narayanganj. His father is a teacher and his mother is a housewife.

Though he is mentally disorder, he is interested in studying. He is taking part in the Junior School Certificate (JSC) exam from the local Shahjalal Mia High School.

Mihad said, “I do not want to be in control of anyone. I don’t want to be a burden of anyone. I want to depend on myself and lead a normal life.”

Mihad’s father Milon said, “My son is mentally disordered but he does not get any benefit from the Social Services Department. It is very difficult to treat him with my little income. Nevertheless, I am continuing his treatment and studies with many dreams.”

Upazila Social Services Officer Mohammad Jabbar said that the family of talented Nahidul Islam had applied. The process is underway to provide him a monthly allowance.
