Microbus plunges into Padma at Paturia ferry terminal

A Magura-bound microbus lost control over its steering and fell into the Padma River with five passengers at Paturia Ghat in Manikganj. Members of the fire service personnel immediately rescued all the passengers of the microbus alive.

The microbus fell into the river from Pontoon No. 5 of Paturia Ghat on Sunday afternoon. The rescued are microbus driver Riaz Hossain, passenger Kamruzzaman, Shahjahan Mandal, and Mohammad Alif.

Eyewitness Sharif Uddin said, "I was waiting to get on the ferry. The microbus was also getting on the ferry amid the crowd. At one stage, the car fell into the river while boarding a ferry at Paturia ferry Terminal.

Inspector Ashraful Islam, in charge of the fire service, said the microbus lost control and fell into the river from Pontoon No. 5 at Paturia Ghat around 5pm. Upon receiving the news, rescuers rushed to the spot and rescued five passengers of the microbus alive. Attempts are now being made to rescue the sunken microbus.
