Mexican Defense Minister tests COVID-19 positive

Mexican Defense Minister Luis Cresencio Sandoval on Wednesday said that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and is undergoing medical treatment while working from home.
The Minister said, “I will continue my duties in quarantine from home, under medical treatment, and relying on the officials of the National Defense Ministry in keeping with the chain of command.”
Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and several members of his cabinet have tested positive for COVID-19 since the outbreak of the pandemic in Mexico.
The country’s health ministry has reported more than 2 million official cases and over 175,000 deaths, the world’s third-highest COVID-19 death toll, after the United States and Brazil.
