The first phase of Bangladesh's first metro rail project from Capital's Uttara to Agargaon is now visible as the last viaduct of this part has been installed today.
The last viaduct was placed on pier no. 375 and 376 at around 11:20am.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited, the implementing agency of the project, has confirmed this.
He said the last viaduct of the first phase has been installed today on Uttara, Diabari to Agargaon phase. This is a very happy moment for us. The overall progress of the first phase is 81.38 percent. There is still about 19 percent work left. These works are running in one shift during the day and shift at night.
MAN Siddique said the plan will be announced after the Metrorail train reaches Bangladesh. The train may arrive in April.
Earlier, Planning Minister MA Mannan recently said the first phase Uttara to Agargaon of metro rail is likely to be operational in December this year.
The Tk 22,000 crore project is being implemented to build the 20.10 km elevated metro rail from Uttara to Motijheel.
