Metro rail construction progress 63pc: Quader

Road Transport and Bridges Minister Obaidul Quader said the overall average progress of the construction of the first metro rail in Bangladesh has been completed by 63.26 percent.
The Ambassador of Japan and the Country Director of JICA were present at the Metrorail Depot visit in Uttara on Tuesday. Obaidul Quader was added as the chief guest from his residence in the capital.
The overall average progress of the construction work of the first metro rail in Bangladesh is 63.26 percent. The progress is 84.79 percent from Uttara third part to Agargaon area for the construction of the first phase, said the Bridges Minister.
He further said that the progress of construction work from the Agargaon area to the Motijheel area is 59.78 percent and the overall progress of procurement of electrical and mechanical systems, rolling stock and depot equipment is 54.40 percent.
The first coach of Metrorail was trialed at Diabari depot in the capital’s Uttara around 12:00 pm.
MAN Siddique, managing director of Dhaka Mass Transit Company Limited (DMTCL), said the first set has six bogies. The trial run has been starting from this month. We are preparing for that.
