Barcelona’s dream of winning the La Liga title has faded. Lionel Messi's side was knocked out of the title race after losing 2-1 to Celta Vigo in the 36th match of the Spanish La Liga.
Even Messi’s excellent goal in the Camp Nou on Monday did not save Barcelona from the lead. Ronald Koeman’s team lost at home with a pair of goals from Santi Mina in the 38th and 89th minutes.
With this, Argentine superstar Lionel Messi may have played his last match at Camp Nou if he did not renew his contract in Barcelona.
In the 28th minute of the match, Messi gave Barca a 1-0 lead after nodding the ball with header back cross. However, in the 38th minute, Celta Vigo equalized as Santi Mina drilled the ball from the bottom corner.
Santi Mina gave Celta a 2-1 lead when he rebounds the ball into the roof of the net. Barca’s Clement Lenglet was shown a red card in the match
In the other game of the day, Atletico Madrid beat Osasuna 2-1 with a last-minute goal from Luis Suarez. Like Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid has also won.
Atletico has 63 points in 37 matches, Real 81 and Barca 76. The La Liga title will be decided by Madrid’s two clubs in the final week of the league.
