Dhaka Platoon captain Mashrafe Bin Mortaza was unfazed by his side’s humiliating nine-wicket defeat to Rajshahi Royals in their first game of the Bangabandhu Bangladesh Premier League (BBPL), stating that there’s nothing to be worried for just one defeat.

The pre-tournament favorite Dhaka Platoon could put on just 134-9 after being sent to bat first in a wicket conducive to batting even though they are bolstered with two A+ category players and several reputed power-hitters of the world.

Rajshahi overhauled the target in just 18.2 overs with the loss of one wicket to produce the upset.

“No excuse but the tournament is big enough and there is enough time left,” Mashrafe said today after the match.

“We have done some mistakes, which should be rectified and we would get enough time to do this. We suffered some run out dismissals that also should get the attention.”

Since we have another match tomorrow, there is not enough time left to think about those. For time being, we should rectify the mistakes that we have done today and that will be enough, he added.

Dhaka Platoon will take on Cumilla Warriors tomorrow at the same ground, a match that should be tougher for them given the latter demolished favorite Rangpur Rangers by 105 runs in their opening game.

Mashrafe himself did nothing worthy apart from his 10 ball-18 not out in the match that gave the bowlers something to defend. He remained wicket-less after conceding 18 runs in three overs.

It was Mashrafe’s first match since the disappointing World Cup mission in which he took just one wicket in eight matches.
