Markets in Gopalganj decided to remain shut

Though government allowed to reopen shop across the country considering Ramadan, it has been decided to keep all types of shops closed in Gopalganj. The decision was taken at a meeting of the administration with business leaders held at the DC office on Saturday to prevent corona transmission.

It was further decided at the meeting that if anyone wants, he or she can set shop temporarily at the Sheikh Kamal Cricket Stadium ground in the district town following health rules and maintaining social distance.

The meeting was organized by the district administration and attended by DC Shahida Sultana, SP Muhammad Saidur Rahman Khan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Niaz Mohammad, District Awami League General Secretary Mahabub Ali Khan, Sadar UNO Md. Sadiqur Rahman Khan, Municipal Mayor Kazi Liaquat Ali Leku and other business leaders. 

Gopalganj Chamber Senior Vice President Md. Mosharraf Hossain said the meeting decided not to open any business in Gopalganj Sadar as per the decision of all the associations. However, shops for raw materials and daily necessities will remain open in compliance with health rules. 

Sheikh Masudur Rahman, general secretary of the Gopalganj Chamber, said the decision by all business leaders not to keep the shop open was a brilliant decision. Welcoming the decision, since the shops are closed, it will be possible to prevent corona.
