Many places may experience moderately heavy to very heavy falls

Bangladesh Meteorological Department on Wednesday predicted that many places of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers with moderately heavy to heavy falls in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today.
"Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at most places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Sylhet and Chattogram divisions and at many places over Dhaka, Khulna and Barishal divisions with moderately heavy to very heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office release issued this morning.
Day temperature may fall by 1-2 degrees Celsius and night temperature may fall slightly over the country, the release added.
The axis of monsoon trough runs through Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, and West Bengal to Assam across the central part of the country. One of its associated trough extends up to the Northeast Bay of Bengal. Monsoon is active over the country and moderate elsewhere over the North Bay.
As an outlook for the next 72 hours, BMD predicted: "Rainfall activity may continue".
The country’s maximum temperature on Tuesday was recorded 35.6 degrees Celsius at Rajshahi and today’s minimum temperature of 24.6 degrees Celsius was recorded at Teknaf.
Maximum rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6:00 am today was recorded by 132 millimeters (mm) at Sylhet.
The sun sets at 06:50 pm today and rises at 05:17 am tomorrow in the capital.
