Many places likely to experience rain

Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) on Thursday predicted that many places of the country are likely to experience light to moderate rain or thundershowers in the next 24 hours commencing at 9:00 am today. 

“Light to moderate rain and thunder showers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Rangpur, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rajshahi and Dhaka divisions with moderately heavy to heavy falls at places over the country,” said a met office release this morning. 

Besides, day and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period, it added.

Country’s maximum temperature was recorded 36.3 degrees Celsius at Patuakhali in Barishal division and today’s lowest temperature was 25.0 degrees Celsius jointly at Nikli, Sandwip and Hatiya. 

Monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay, the release said. The highest rainfall for the last 24 hours till 6 am today was recorded 100 millimetres (mm) at Sitakunda under Chattogram division.

The sunsets at 6:08 pm today and rises at 5:43 am tomorrow in the capital.
