Manna Dey’s 7th death anniv today

The 7th death anniversary of Manna Dey, one of the best music artists in the Indian subcontinent, is observed on Thursday. The renowned artist died on October 24, 2013.
Manna Dey was born to Mahamaya and Purna Chandra Dey on May 1, 1919, in Kolkata. The real name of this legend is Prabodh Chandra Dey, known by his stage name Manna Dey.
Manna Dey had performed music for over 60 years in many languages including Hindi, Bengali, Marathi and Gujarati and sang more than three and a half thousand songs.
The recipient of the Padma Shri (1971), the Padma Bhushan (2005) and Dadasaheb Phalke Award (2007), Manna Dey dedicated his life to music.
The West Bengal government awarded him the highest civilian honor of the state ‘Banga Bibhushan’ in 2011.
