Man gets life term in Narail arms case

A Narail court on Monday sentenced a man to life term imprisonment in a case filed for possessing illegal firearms five years ago.

The convicted accused is Zakir Talukder alias Liakot Hossain, 48, son of Shamsul Haque alias Sham Talukder from Kalabaria village in Kalia Upazila of Narail.

Special Tribunal-1 judge of Narail Munshi Md Moshier Rahman convicted him in the case and pronounced the verdict in presence of him in the court.

Public Prosecutor of Narail judge court Md. Emdadul Islam confirmed the information.

Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) conducted a raid in the Kanduri-Srinagar area in Kalia upazila and recovered one Shutter Gun and 5 rounds of bullets from Liakot on August 12, 2016.

Later, the elite force filed a case with Naragati police station in this connection. Police submitted charge sheet against Liakot.
