Man beaten, torched to death in Lalmonirhat: 3 cases filed

Three cases have been lodged on Saturday two days after a man was beaten and burnt to death at Burimari in Patgram Upazila of Lalmonirhat. 

Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Md Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan and Rangpur Range DIG Devdas Bhattacharya confirmed the information during a visit to the spot on Saturday. 

Of the three, one case was filed by the family of the deceased, one by the chairman of Burimari Union Parishad and another by the police. 

A group of people beat the man named Abu Younus Mohammad Shahidunnabi to death and burned his body over a silly matter on Thursday evening. 

As many as 22 named and more than 500 to 600 unnamed people have been made accused in the case filed by Burimari Union Parishad chairman SM Nawaz Nishat. A man named Hamidul Islam has been made the main accused in the case. A video showed that Hamidul Islam, 50, directly involved in the incident and was beating the man. 

Another case has also been registered by the police in this regard. Patgram Police Station OC M Shahjahan Ali filed the case. However, the number of accused in the case has not been known yet. The number of accused in the case filed by the family is also yet to be known.
