Man accused in 18 cases killed in Bakshiganj gunfight

An accused of 18 cases killed in a gunfight in Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj Upazila. 

The gunfight took place on Monday morning at Dumurtala in Bakshiganj of the Indian border. 

The deceased Shipon, son of Jalal Uddin of Munshirchar area of Sherpur. 

Earlier, Shipon caught by locals during the boat robbery in Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj. He was later handed over to Bakshiganj Police Station.

“After the interrogation, police conducted a drive- first at Sarmara and then Ramrampur- with Shipon for the recovery of drugs and weapons. While reaching at Dumurtala in Kamapur UP of Jamalpur’s Bakshiganj with Shipon, his associates started firing,” said AKM Mahbubul Alam, officer-in-charge (OC) of Bakshiganj Police Station. 

“When Shipon tried to flee, Shipon was shot. Later, he was brought to Bakshiganj Sadar Hospital where doctors declared him dead,” he also said adding, “A pipegun, a motorcycle, and 300 yabas were recovered from the spot.” 

During this, the four policemen were injured. The injured are- SI Azizur Rahman, SI Raju Ahmad, Constable Nakret and Kong Mizanur Rahman.

District SP Delwar Hossain will hold a press conference on Monday in this regard.
