A court in Dhaka placed Hefazat-e-Islam defunct central committee’s Joint Secretary-General and Dhaka Metropolitan General Secretary Mamunul Haque on another seven-day remand.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Shadbir Yeasir Ahsan Chowdhury passed the order on Monday after hearing.
Police produced Mamunul before the court today after the completion of his first seven-day remand. The investigation officer of the cases pleaded for remand for a total of 20 days including showing arrest in two cases filed against him with Motijheel and Paltan police stations.
The case with Motijheel police station was filed over the violence that took place near Baitul Mukarram National Mosque during Hefazat's demonstrations on March 26 while the case with Paltan police station was filed over the Hefazat mayhem in the capital on May 5, 2013.
Earlier on April 18, Mamunul Haque was arrested in connection with a case filed over vandalism with Mohammadpur Police Station in 2020. Later on April 19, a Dhaka court placed him on a seven-day remand in the vandalism case.
