Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee is set to be sworn in as West Bengal Chief Minister for the third time on Monday.

The decision was made after a meeting at the party's office on Monday, Kolkata-based daily Anandabazar reported.

Mamata sat down for a discussion with the party's executive members at the Trinamool office in Kalighat. After the meeting, party secretary general Perth Chatterjee decided to hold a press conference. He said Mamata was elected the leader of the party.

Perth Chatterjee said the meeting reached in the decision that Mamata Banerjee will take oath as CM on April 5. Later, the rest of the MLAs will take oath on May 6 and 7. Biman Banerjee will be the speaker of the assembly. Subrata Mukherjee will be in charge on the day of the election of the Speaker. It has not been decided yet who will be the cabinet ministers. Mamata will decide who will be the ministers.

Earlier in the day, Mamata said in Kalighat that the main task of her government after taking oath as chief minister would be to deal with the coronavirus situation in the state. After that, they will celebrate victory.

The Election Commission announced the results on May 2 after an 8-phase vote in West Bengal. The Trinamool Congress has come to power in West Bengal again with a lot of seats in the magic figure, leaving the BJP far behind in the elections. Out of 294 seats in the assembly, polls have been held in 292 seats. The Trinamool Congress won 213 seats, BJP won 77 seats, the Left Alliance and others won one seat each.
