Main census across country 25-31 Oct

The main census will be held from October 25 to 31 where people across the country will be brought under the census in a week. On the occasion, Zonal Operation (first) training activities have been organized
Planning Minister M Abdul Mannan was present as the chief guest at the inaugural function of the training program organized at the Bangladesh Bureau of Statistics (BBS) building in Agargaon the capital on Monday. Secretary of Statistics and Information Management Division Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury was present as the special guest. Director General Tajul Islam presided over the function.
It was informed in the event that 144 zonal officers from all over the country are participating in the training. Census and house-count 2021 activities will be completed in 4 phases - conducting zonal operations, collecting census data, conducting a PEC survey and conducting a socio-economic and demographic survey.
In the first phase of the zonal operation, field-level data collection activities will be conducted from 23 January to 1 February 2021.
“There is no alternative for accurate information, need to do teamwork and campaign needs to be run extensively,” said Planning Minister, adding: “People used to say what the World Bank says. Now people say what BBS says. This interest has been created. It has to hold. ”
Mohammad Yamin Chowdhury said the main census was supposed to take place this month. But due to Covid-19, it is being held in October. “The data has to collect patiently by using devices. Accurate statistics put an end to misunderstandings,” he added.
