Madhukhali-Magura railway line construction inaugurated

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has inaugurated the construction of a new railway line from Madhukhali in Faridpur to Magura Sadar.
The Premier laid the foundation stone of the railway construction project through a video conference from Ganabhaban on Thursday afternoon.
At the same time, the Prime Minister inaugurated the ‘Mango Special Train’ for transporting mangoes at affordable prices.
Earlier on Sunday, an MoU was signed for the construction of a railway line from Madhukhali to Magura. The agreement was signed in the presence of Railway Minister Md. Nurul Islam Sujon in Dhaka.
The total cost of the project has been estimated at Tk 1,202.49 crore. Under the project, the railway link of Magura district with Dhaka will be established through Padma Bridge.
It is learned that the construction of the 19.90 km railway line from Madhukhali to Magura town via Kamarkhali will cost Tk 1,202.49 crore. This railway will have two new stations at Kamarkhali and Magura. A 4.9-km loop line will be constructed in two station yards. Besides, 28 small bridges and culverts have to be constructed in this route. The contract is valid till April 30, 2022.
