MMCH COVID unit sees record 30 deaths in a day

The COVID unit of Mymensingh Medical College Hospital has registered 30 more deaths in the last 24 hours till Sunday morning, which is the highest number of fatalities in a single day in the unit.
Dr Mohiuddin Khan Moon, focal person of the hospital's Covid unit has confirmed the information on Friday (August 6) morning.
Five people from Mymensingh, six from Netrokona, two each from Tangail and Jamalpur, one from Gazipur died from COVID-19 at the hospital during the 24 hours from 8:00 am on Thursday to 8:00 am on Friday.
Besides, seven of the deceased, who had been suffering from COVID symptoms, were from Mymensingh, three from Netrokona, two each from Jamalpur and Sunamganj.
He said 525 people are now undergoing treatment at MMCH's Corona unit against 230 seats. Of these, 23 are in ICU. A total of 87 people have been admitted in the last 24 hours while 51 patients have returned home after recovering.
Meanwhile, Mymensingh District Civil Surgeon Dr Mohammad Nazrul Islam said, "In the last 24 hours, 402 more COVID patients have been diagnosed after testing 1711 samples in the Mymensingh district."
