The country`s lowest temperature 3 degree Celsius recorded in Nilphamari district on Monday morning, said sources at Dhaka Met office.

Sources said, the lowest temperature of this year has been recorded in Saidpur and Dimla upazilas in the morning. In Dhaka, the mercury dropped to 9.3 degrees.

People have been suffering badly due to the persisting cold weather in Nilphamari. The poor people, including children and elderly persons, have been suffering much from different cold-related diseases. The cold wave limited their outdoor activities to only basic necessities.

On Sunday, a met office press release said, mild to moderate cold wave sweeping over the country and may continue for the next two days. The chilling condition is likely to improve from January 10.
