Three more border districts of the country – Satkhira, Rajshahi and Khulna – are being monitored for the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, as a result, there are plans for lockdown in these districts whenever the infection increases.
Meanwhile, the border districts have seen in increasing the Covid-19 infection after Eid-ul-Fitr. As the infection rate has increased by more than 40 percent, a 7-day lockdown has already been imposed in Chapainawabganj.
There was a panic of an increase in Covid-19 infections across the country after Eid and now that panic has been reported as the pandemic has started increasing again.
According to experts, the virus cases and deaths are on the rise again after Eid due to not following government guidelines on hygiene rules during the Eid period across the country, especially, in the border areas. Many Bangladeshis returning from India have already been tested COVID positive with Indian variants.
“Indian variant of coronavirus has been detected in another 13 people in the country," informed Dr. Tahmina Shirin, Director of the Institute of Epidemiology Disease Control And Research (IEDCR), on Saturday morning.
