Authorities in Chapainawabganj on Sunday have extended the ongoing lockdown for another seven days, in a bid to contain the spread of Covid-19.
Earlier, a strict lockdown had been imposed in the district, which shares border with India's West Bengal, from May 24 night for seven days as the coronavirus infection situation worsens.
No long-distance transports except ambulances, press and goods-laden vehicles are allowed to enter or leave the district during the lockdown.
However, grocery shops and those selling daily necessities will remain open every day. Besides, pharmacies, clinics and hospitals will be out of the purview of the lockdown. Mango markets will also remain open.
