Lockdown for 6 Noakhali unions and Sadar municipality

Noakhali District Coronavirus Control and Prevention Committee held a meeting today
The district administration has announced a special lockdown for six unions of Noakhali Sadar upazila, including Noakhali Municipality, in an effort to curb Covid-19 infections in the district. The lockdown will come into effect from 6am on Saturday (June 5) and remain in place until 11 June.
The decision was taken at a meeting of the district coronavirus prevention committee on Friday afternoon, said Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan.
Pradeep Ranjan Chakraborty, Secretary, Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Department, Ministry of Planning, addressed the meeting.
Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Khorshed Alam Khan said the decision was made following a meeting of the district coronavirus control and prevention committee.
The unions are - Noyannai, Binodpur, Qadir Hanif, Neyazpur, Ashwadia, and Noakhali.
Md Khorshed Alam, deputy commissioner and also district magistrate, said all shops in these areas will remain shut at this time. However, the restrictions will not be applicable to pharmacies and other emergency service outlets.
