DC Mahmudul Alam has officially inaugurated the litchi market at Shaheed Bara Maidan in Gore, Dinajpur. The relocated litchi market was inaugurated on Monday afternoon.
The litchi market was shifted at the initiative of DC as there was less space than required in the New Market in front of Kotwali Police Station in the coronavirus situation of the country. This litchi market has been systematically arranged while maintaining social distance. 38 stalls have been set up for litchi warehousing and 30 stalls have been set up for retailing.
DC Mahmudul Alam visited every stall and requested everyone to maintain social distance and must use masks.
DC Mahmudul Alam said Dinajpur district is famous for litchi. Litchi has been planted in 6,075 hectares of land in this district. The litchi season lasts from late May to July. So that the litchi farmers of the district could get good prices even in Coronavirus, the market was shifted to Shaheed Bara Maidan in Gore. Litchi traders and farmers are happy with the relocation of this litchi market.
