Four people, including a woman, were killed in lightning strikes in Fatikchhari, Mirsarai, and Boalkhali upazilas of Chattogram on Sunday morning.

The deceased were identified as Vanumati Shil, wife of Yogendra Shil of Dalurpara area of ​​Fatikchhari upazila, Lucky Rani Das, wife of Baneshwar Das of the same area, Sajjad Hossain of East Domkhali area of ​​Mirsarai upazila and Jahangir, son of Mostafa Kamal of Jyasthapura of Sreepur-Kharandwip union of Boalkhali upazila.

Afsar Uddin, councilor of Ward no. 8 of Kanchannagar Union in Fatikchhari, said four women were injured in lightning strikes while working on land in Chamurhat Bazar area. After rescuing them, they were taken to a local hospital where doctors declared Vanumati Sheel and Lucky Rani Das dead.

Ayub Alam, a member of Ward no. 9 of Saherkhali Union in Mirsarai, said a father and his son were struck by lightning while working in the field. The son died on the spot while his father received injury. The man was rescued and taken to a local hospital.

Mohammad Mokarram, chairman of the Sreepur-Kharandwip Union Parishad in Boalkhali, said Jahangir was struck by lightning while working in a lemon orchard in the Garjangia area of ​​the Jaisthapura hills. Later, he was rescued and taken to the Upazila Health Complex where doctors declared him dead.
