Lightning kills 6 in 4 districts

Six people, including a woman, were killed in lightning strikes in four districts of the country. Of them, two died in Narsingdi, two in Shariatpur while one each in Madaripur and Habiganj.

These incidents took place from Saturday morning to evening.

In Narsingdi: Two people were killed by lightning strikes in Manohardi and Belab upazila of the district. The are Guru Deb Shaha of Manohardi upazila  and Afia Begum of Belab upazila.

Guru Deb Shaha died while he was picking up mangoes in the morning and Afia Begum died while she was picking vegetables.

In Shariatpur: Two people were killed by lightning in the afternoon. Jajira Upazila Health Complex Medical Officer Habibur Rahman said the two people had died before they were taken to the hospital.

In Madaripur: Two brothers Ibrahim Bepari and his brother Humayun Bebari were working in the almonds field at that time lighting struck on them leaving both injured. Later local took them to the hospital where the duty doctor declared Ibrahim Bepari dead. 

Shibchar Police Station OC Miraj Hossain confirmed the news.

In Habiganj: A farmer named Akbar Ali was killed by lightning on the spot while working on aus paddy land in the haor next to his house.

Bahubal Model Police Station OC Mohammad Kamruzzamana confirmed this.
