Light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow at 9 am, said the Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) in a weather bulletin signed by Meteorologist Md. Monowar Hossain, deputy director of the country’s Met Office.

According to the BMD weather bulletin, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at one or two places over Rangpur, Rajshahi, Dhaka, Mymensingh, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions.

Besides, day and night temperatures may remain nearly unchanged over the country during the period.

“A low-pressure area may form over the north Andaman Sea and adjoining area at the end period,” the Met Office said at the outlook for the next 72 hours.

Meanwhile, Meteorologist Md. Monowar Hossain said in the bulletin that the axis of the monsoon trough is running through East Rajsthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. One of its associated troughs has extended up to North Bay. As a result, the monsoon is less active over Bangladesh and weak over North Bay.

The country’s maximum temperature was recorded 35.6°C yesterday at Jashore of Khulna division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded 24.5°C at Kutubdia of Chattogram division, Mymensingh district and Nikli of Dhaka division.

Today’s sunset will be at 5:39 pm and Tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:54 am.
