Light to moderate downpour to continue likely

Light to moderate rain or thundershowers as well as moderately heavy to heavy downpours are likely to occur over the country in the next 24 hours ending tomorrow 9 am, said Bangladesh Meteorological Department (BMD) today (Friday, September 17).
According to the country’s Met Office, light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by temporary gusty wind is likely to occur at many places over Dhaka, Khulna, Barishal, Chattogram and Sylhet divisions and at a few places over Rangpur, Rajshahi and Mymensingh divisions.
Besides, moderately heavy to heavy rainfalls are likely to occur at isolated places over the country in the preceding 24 hours.
“Day temperature may fall slightly and night temperature may remain nearly unchanged over the country,” BMD’s weather bulletin added.
It is learned that the well-marked low over North Madhya Pradesh and the adjoining area is currently lying over Center Uttar
Pradesh and adjoining area and it become weak “gradually”.
So, the axis of monsoon trough has run through Rajsthan, the central of well-marked low, Bihar, West Bengal to Assam across the central part of Bangladesh. “One of its associated troughs has extended up to North Bay,” the Met Office said, adding that monsoon is fairly active over Bangladesh and weak to moderate over North Bay.
The country’s maximum temperature was recorded 35.0°C yesterday at Sayedpur in the Rangpur division while today’s minimum temperature was recorded 24.1°C at Tetulia in Rangpur division.
Today’s sunset will be at 6:00 pm and tomorrow’s sunrise will be at 5:46 am.
