Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority (BIWTA) suspended operations of launches and speedboats on the Shimulia-Kathalbari route due to cyclonic storm "Bulbul". The Kathalbari launch ghat source inform this on Saturday morning.

It is known that due to cyclone "Bulbul" strong current has been created in the Padma river. For this, BIWTA suspended all launches and speedboat services from this morning. But Ferry services of the route still continue.

Meanwhile, it has been drizzling since Friday noon. Akhter Hossain, traffic inspector of Kanthalbari Launch Ghat, said the launch and speedboat services were stopped at the behest of the authorities.

The suspension will remain effective until further notice from the BIWTA.

Meanwhile, Abdul Alim Mia, manager of BIWTC's Kathalbari ferry ghat, said the ferry movement is still normal. There is not so tide in the Padma. So ferry services will continue till further notice.
