Landslide in Bandarban, one missing

Torrential rains have caused a landslide on dwelling houses at Ali Kadam in Bandarban. One person has been injured and one still missing in the incident. 

The landslide occurred on Tuesday afternoon at Mangal Jhiri hill in Nayapara upazila in the district. 

The injured was identified as Imongsing Marma, a resident of Kolar Jhiri Abbas Karbari Para in Nayapara UP. The missing Rubel’s house is also in the same area.

According to the locals, some people went to cut bamboo in Mangal Jhiri hill at noon. When the landslide occurred at the time, Imongsing Marma was trapped in the rubble although the other two people with them – Md. Minar, Md. Belal – moved away safely. Later, the locals rescued Imongsing and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. However, Md. Rubel is still missing.

Alikadam Police Station OC Kazi Rakib Uddin said police were sent to the spot after receiving the news. A fire service unit also went to the spot.
