Those who do not have land will be given 2 decimals of the land, said the Minister of State for Disaster Management and Relief Dr. Md. Enamur Rahman.
He said this at a press conference organized at the Secretariat on the occasion of International Disaster Mitigation Day-2020 on Monday.
The state minister said the ministry has provided disaster-tolerant houses to 17,500 families in the current fiscal year. The Prime Minister has announced that no person in Bangladesh will be homeless anymore.
A list has also been made for that. 8,83,00,033 families have been listed there. Those who do not have land will be given 2-decimal land and a house. And those who have land but do not have houses will be given houses.
Dr. Enam said funds have already been allocated for the construction of 59,000 houses. Work on the house will begin soon. The Prime Minister will hear the experiences of three of those who got houses.
Noting that 220 cyclone shelters and 423 flood shelters have been set up in the current fiscal year, the state minister said, “Construction of 550 Mujib forts is also underway. We are constructing 66 relief warehouses in 64 districts. Works are towards the end. Once these are done, we will be able to take relief aid to people more quickly.”
“We have started construction of 60 disability-friendly multipurpose rescue boats to rescue people, rescue livestock and distribute relief items in the disaster-hit areas. These boats can run at a depth of one meter,” he added.
